Well the holidays will be here before you know it so there is no time like the “present” to start creating. And lucky for you, the StencilGirl Design Team is having a blog hop and giveaway that is sure to inspire you. Leave a comment here and at each blog on the hop to be entered to win a $25.00 gift certificate! The Blog Hop list is at the bottom of my post. We have more than a dozen projects our Creative Team members made just to whet your appetite for the merriest season!
So I assume you came here to see what is so magical about stencils? Ah, I have a treat for you. First of all, I love decorating for the holidays and parties and pretty much anytime. I generally make projects that serve some sort of function. Both of my items today were created for my table. My favorite era is the 1950’s (need I say, I barely made it in there, birth-wise) and I collect all the vintage doo-dahs of that time period that remind me of my childhood. Obviously, I took my inspiration from there.
I stenciled some cardstock with Holiday Sayings #6 by MaryBeth Shaw and the adorable snowman on Christmas #2 by June Pfaff Daley using red, black and white ink. Using some Ranger Vintage Photo Ink made them look, uh, vintage! Because I like things dimensional, I cut the snowman out and then made the card base. I used Peacock distress ink and a blending tool really lightly to create the background for the card. I used the Snowflake stencil again and Cat Kerr’s Organized Chaos , putting them on a strip of torn card stock and used texture paste to make them appear dimensional. When dry, I added it to the base of the card and then adhered the snowman to the card base using a foam dot. I included some hearts from the Three Trees by Jessica Sporn to the sentiment page. Adding “snow” was easy with texture paste. Apply it to the Snow Storm Stencil by Janet Daley and Organized Chaos and lift off!
If you mask off one of the words with repositionable tape, you can ink it up in a color to highlight that special greeting, as seen in the word “merry” below.
The snowflake from the Snow Storm stencil was created with texture paste and red-glittered card stock. I cut that out as well and inserted it into the display. And that’s it!
Now onto the place settings!
This cute little silverware holder was created with kraft-colored card stock that was folded in half and trimmed down a bit. The top portion of the front of the pocket was cut out so that the napkin and silverware were revealed. Now the best part…The STENCILING!
I used vintage sheet music and adhered it to a piece of cardstock for stability then applied texture paste to the small snowflakes on the Snow Storm stencil and let it dry. The snowman was created exactly the same as it was above except I added a snowflake to his body and white dots to his eyes.
And here you see him up close. Ah, love the nostalgia!
Wish I had time to make more. I have one half done. Stayed tuned and I might feature that one too! Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to keep on HOPPING. If you missed anyone, you can click on the list below.

Debi

Love your projects. This hop has really given
me ideas to use for the holidays. I’ve
always thought of stenciling for large pages
of work (which is kind of daunting) but
these smaller projects will go faster and
easier.
