Sorry for the delay in posting. The nastiest flu bug came to stay for an extended visit and wrapped its scrawny long legs around me for nearly 8 days. Happy to say I’m on the mend and just in time. My daughter Lauren’s birthday was yesterday and she and her fiance came for a weekend visit. I’ve got to say her fiance is a perfect fit…he likes garage saling…WINNER! LOL! Anyway thought I would post a few pictures of her birthday decorations. The banner was made using Sizzix dies (alphabet) and the Ellison 8″ circle die (cut in half).
Isn’t this the cutest and easiest decoration? Think I saw this somewhere on pinterest. I have a huge stash of cupcake liners so pulling them out to match was not difficult. Really added to the festivities.
Lauren is getting married in August and so for one of her birthday gifts I made her this clothespin couple. It was very inexpensive to make but what I loved was the detail that could be created. The bride’s dress is nearly identical to Lauren’s dress :). Obviously, I tried to match up the groom’s attire to what I think he will wear. The squared arbor matches the arbor at their venue. I had so much fun designing this but what was even greater was her reaction! It was priceless! I had the couple placed in plastic see-thru paint can. Oh, I wish I had a picture. She was/is soooo excited! Birthday=HAPPY! Mission accomplished.
The tiny white flowers in her bouquet are from Tim Holtz’s floral decorative strip (new) by Sizzix. I placed rhinestones in the centers. This too will match Lauren’s bouquet as I am making her a vintage broach and earring arrangement. I will post pictures when I complete this. Fun, fun!
These tiny flowers are purchased forget-me-knots and the little rhinestones are from a garage sale find. It pays to shop…lol!

Debi, these are awesome. My daughter made a similar cake topper for her wedding and was asked to make another for a friend. The second one didn't turn out as well as the first. Do you have any suggestions on making the groom? It seems that the shoulders are the hardest part.
Thanks,
jemelene

You know Jemelene, I didn't even think about the shoulders. I just let the felt fall over them. In other words, I just cut the jacket like a vest and then added a separate piece for the lapel. The holes were already cut for the sleeves. I rolled up felt and inserted the wire for the arms and hot glued the whole sleeve into the holes of the jacket. Hope this helps.
