Just wanted to stop in right quick and post my next tip. Tip #1 told you where to look for sales. Today I want to tell you to read the ads carefully. A garage sale is truly just that, namely a sale usually held in the garage. An estate sale however, is something that means items from an estate, generally from someone who has passed on or has retired to a different location or a retirement home. It makes me mad when I see toys and baby clothes (not vintage) mentioned as “Estate Sale” items. When I see the word “estate” I assume that means it is old things from someone who has been around for many years. So, take in all the ads you see. Read the fine lines that describe what they are selling. If you are into new items and children’s things, great. If you are wanting old, pass those ads by, even if they say “estate”. In other words, do your homework. It may take some time in the beginning but it won’t take long before you are quickly skimming the list to the areas that interest you most. Obviously, all garage and estate sales are a crap shoot, even with pictures. You never know what you are going to get until you arrive, but at least this information will elimate some of the worthless shopping stops :)!
