Monday’s Motivation

Remember my picture from last Monday with my “studio” in complete shambles?  I will show you how I cleaned it up but really, it rarely looks like this or I wouldn’t be creating (see last photo).  This weekend I actually added a few more organizers so that I could accommodate my dies and magazines instead of stacking them on the counter.  Now, of course, I must remember to put them all back.

Anyway,  here is Monday’s Motivation.  I said last week I would not be making a card but a project.  To me, none of these are really complex.  No matter your ability level, you should be able to create any one of these styles but let’s start off with the simplest first.  Here’s my “Thinking of You” bouquet (maybe Easter?) using the Oopsie Daisy die from my “Quite Contrary” collection.  I featured it last Monday as well but I really want you to see the versatility of the die.

So this flower is just two flowers die-cut from card stock and layered together.  The center is what’s cool! I rolled up a small piece of tissue paper then coiled it and adhered it with hot glue onto a non-stick craft sheet then peeled it up. I added a half a piece of a tiny styrofoam ball to the back of the flower to allow for a wire stem. 
The next flower has been cut from watercolor paper.  Since watercoloring is so trendy these days, I decided to add this technique to my collection as well. Watercolor brushes with the water in the handle are very ease to use. Water-based inks as well as watercolors are great for coloring  flowers.
I love tissue paper and truth be known, I suspect I’ve been collecting far too much of it for far too long (as well as crepe paper). Ugg!  But now I see how handy it is.  I didn’t have to run out to the store for this. 
 I cut out several pieces of patterned tissue paper in each flower size then layered and glued them together.  I curled some of the petals simply by using the blade from scissors, holding the paper between my fingers and pulling slightly.  The center was a piece of tiny styrofoam covered in tissue paper.  I also used  the 1/2  piece of styrofoam at the back of the flower for the wire/stem as shown in flower #2.
Now, to add the gift part.  I bought a clear glass vase and filled it with Easter candy ( jelly beans or mini malted eggs look colorful).  I inserted the flowers in the vase and tied it all up with cellophane.  This gift is ready to go.  Which flower is your favorite?

  3. Wow, I absolutely love these daisies 🙂 Could you tell me what size they both are? Have looked online but could only find the size of the overall die :/ thanking you kindly 🙂 Tania x
