My Creative Corner

16 May

Although Monday’s are generally my tutorial days, I decided to take a slight detour and give you a tour of my tiny craft room.  When I lived in California, I had quite the craft room that was pretty much all mine. It was actually our family room but as the kids grew up and moved out, I took over more and more of it. Well as you many know, I moved to Phoenix a year and a half ago (wow does time fly) and I’m in a nice 3 bedroom apartment but unfortunately, I no longer have that big room.  However, I have made it work and I thought I would show you some pictures of what I have done with where I am.  Truly, i am a hoarder as my house in California is still completely stocked with art supplies and I am nearly full up here in Phoenix.  I know how that works…just say “no”.  “No, I don’t need that.”  “No, I’m good.”  Why is it so difficult?  Pretty much most of us spoke that word as a child but it just doesn’t seem to fly off the tongue as easily now.  Ha!  So here is what I have found to work for me, so far.  Budget constraints don’t allow me to buy much vintage furniture, like cool drawers and such but I get lots of the doo-dahs…

Obviously in this picture, you can see my “collecting” madness.  Except for a few things, namely the colored pencils and twine, most everything has been purchased at garage and estate sales.  Mad, for sure.

This one of my most treasured pieces.  It was made for a trade show using Tim Holtz dies and stamps.  I had a great time creating it.  The photo showcases my very talented daughter, Lauren doing a cartoon strip.  I am in awe of her artistic abilities.
This piece was inspired by a Fossil ad that said “Long Live Vintage” but I changed it up a lot and made it more conducive to my art room, although I would have LOVED to have kept the other phrase because it is so appropriate for me.  Again, I used Tim’s dies.
This is on the other side of my desk, on top of my bookcase.  Just a few of my addictions, I mean treasures…cameras, clocks and paintbrushes.  Never ends… ;-)….
And just so you know, this room gets messy!  Very messy at times.  It’s my thought that if you can’t get a little messy, you might be missing out on some great adventure.
XO,
Debi
