Two Days of Treasure Hunting

13 May

Last weekend my best friend Penny came to Arizona for a few days.  She had been wanting to shop at Junk in the Trunk and since we had Friday night early bird tickets, we spent Friday as well as Saturday morning looking for treasures in the Phoenix area.  We had such a great time digging and poking anywhere and everywhere.  Antibacterial soap is an absolute necessity!  One of the things I have loved the most about garage/estate sale hunting is connecting with the sellers and even the buyers.  Kindness matters every time whether you get a bargain price or not.  If  you don’t like what you were offered, kindly ask if that is their “best” price.  If it’s not what you want, just walk away.  There are more sales to be had.  Honestly, I have met some of the nicest people.  Some have even become my friends. And when you leave a trail of kindness behind you, you receive a boatload of it in return.  Here are a few pics of my finds.  Both sales were fantastic but Saturday rendered half price on everything at both places!  We got to know some of the ladies so well, they begged us to fill a box for $5.00.  I will definitely be hitting their sale again in two weeks!

I struck the mother lode of jewelry with killer deals.  Most of my jewelry was a dollar or less!  The spoons were 25 cents.  Of course, there was a little bit of chatchka mixed in.
And, one can never have too many hankies and millinery flowers. (Well, actually I can but let’s not share that info with my kids!)
Don’t know why I bought this stuff but I am the biggest sucker for sweet figurines.  They were just 3 bucks for the pair.  And have you ever seen a U.S. cake pan? Sold.  The stitchery was 50 cents…and that is going to a friend…truth!  The saw, oh that saw, that is going to be recycled and featured here.  I cannot wait to get going on that project!  Oh, I need to mention the 1950’s-60’s mid-century gold bookcase.  Yea, love that since I think I was a hippy somewhere when I was like 2. Lol!  Stole that pyrex bowl for my aqua collection for $1.00.  Sweeeeet!
I had to have this box because it has to be one of the littlest wooden boxes I have ever seen.  I think it was a metal testing kit of some sort.  It is way cool.
And finally, this little “dear” was added to my ever-expanding deer collection.  She was made in Japan so that makes her a big deal!  Thank you Penny for the gift :).
Well as you can see, I had quite the day!  I  haven’t even told you or showed you how amazing Junk in the Trunk was!  Prices weren’t quite the same but the venue, ambiance and products were amazing.  If you haven’t been yet, you need to make plans for September in Arizona.  Simply one of the best venues around.
XO,
Debi
