Normally I’m off garage/estate sale hunting today and indeed, there is a great one I wanted to go to today in Phoenix. However, my work is having our annual warehouse sale and I’ve been summoned 🙂 to appear from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and back at 9 a.m. on Saturday. So what better opportunity is there than to show you what I do with some of my treasures? The first pillow shows off one of those little flags that everyone stakes around their yard for Memorial Day or 4th of July. I bought two of these little flags (as well as the background fabric) at an estate sale and stitched one on to a piece of the fabric, added my sentiment with a pigma permanent pen and then sewed myself a little pillow. This was a quick project and very inexpensive! If you are into the vintage look, you might try dying your fabric with tea dye or coffee.
Here is a photo of the flag I got at the estate sale. I’m fairly certain it is not old but it was perfect for what I needed it for.
Now this next pillow was created from a used Ralph Lauren sweater from The Goodwill. I even purchased the flannel backing from the thrift store. It was a juniors flannel shirt. I pretty much think it is way cool to find used treasures to upcycle/recycle than to purchase something shiny and new. What do you think?
So here is my challenge to you! What can you find garage sailing and what will you be creating from what you purchased? Send me a pic. I would love to see what treasures you collect!
XO,
Debi

I learned from one of my friends that art is everywhere. Just need to open your eyes and make it your own?. Thanks Seth.
