A few weeks back I took my first class with mixed-media artist Dina Wakely. I had been wanting to take one with her for awhile and when she finally came back into my town (her home), I signed up. It was a packed class and by the end of it, I understood exactly why. It was fun. SHE was fun, and funny and amazing and all those wonderful things. The class was so out of my wheelhouse and I loved every. single. minute. Messy? Yep. Layered. Uh-huh. Abstract. Definitely. So here is just a little plug that was not asked of me. If Dina is ever in your area teaching a class…GO, actually, call right away and sign up! You will not regret it. Her humor alone will entertain you even if your piece was not exactly what you going for. There are no mistakes and she will tell you that. And you know what is so nice? If you don’t like what you created, you can keep adding to it or you can let it dry and start all over again. I definitely do not want to take away from what she taught us in class because you need to GO so I am showing you a few of the other pieces I worked on without any explanation. They may look a little odd to you but there is a story behind them.
So start looking for her. Oh, and by the way, just so you know, this class was a stretch for me. Seriously. I had to let go. Funnier yet, she asked me if I was the closet organizer-type? Lol! Anyone who knows me knows I am anything but organized, well except with my art supplies ;).
Happy Wednesday friends! The week is half over :). Wishing you a good one.
XO,
Debi
