Back in California again and at some of my favorite hunting grounds! Although Fridays in California aren’t typically as popular as Saturdays, I can still find quite a selection of estate and garage sales to go to. On both Friday and Saturday I hit up sales in Orange, Villa Park and Anaheim. Honestly, I am rarely disappointed. I don’t know if it’s because I have learned to read the ads well, have way more lucky “hits” than “misses” or I just collect and love everything. If the latter is the case, this girl is one.sick.puppy. I thought I would show a few pics of some of the places I went to today as well. I actually hung with the “pros”, namely those that are regulars and buy things for their antique spaces. I have silly names for them all. Will share at a later writing. :).
These particular items came from an estate sale. Although many of the items were a tad pricey, I managed to walk away with a few reasonable pieces.
Ah, and these beauties are why I continue to garage sale. For whatever reason, these ornaments had gone by unnoticed. I got them for $2.00 a box and have already committed to selling them to someone else. I’m getting better about letting go! Well, sorta. Had to keep the bell and a few of the blue/purple ornaments. They were selling vintage jewelry and beads too, so yes, I dug in.
More old ornaments. I love the sugary ones. Ah, and those indented ones, they speak to me. Nope, not keeping them though. I have plenty!
And this is one of the perks. You don’t see these very often when junkin’ but I definitely had to try it and I was not disappointed. These sweet ladies were making pupusas which is a Salvadorian-style taco that comes with cheese, pork, beef or rice and beans inside the taco casing (not folded over). All handmade, they were delicious!
I never try street food but my word this year is “fearless” so I took a chance. Glad I did! The next few pics are just some of the places I visited. Some sales are neat and tidy, others are dirty and smelly. Definitely encountered the smelly one. I try to remember to always bring wipes!
So much more to share but it will probably put you to sleep. Perhaps I will do an e-book on garage sailing in the near future. I have a lot of tips, as well as a ton of junk to show for my weekend travels.
XO,
Debi
