Scrambled, Eclectic and Mixed Media Madness-So What’s the Story?

Well I don’t know if any of you have noticed but on any given day and on pretty much any posting, whether it be here on my blog, or on any of the social media platforms I participate in, I  feature random art projects or art-centered hobbies I enjoy.  However, today I thought it was time to explain myself.  I love art.  All kinds. I do not have a particular style or a specific trademark per se, though many say I have a “clean” look.  I call myself an “eclectic artist” and I live up to that definition. I love card making, flower arranging, watercolor, calligraphy, photography, tablescapes, as well as junking and a variety of other “hands-on” crafting.  If you are coming here and are hoping to find something shabby chic or cutesy,  you may or may not find it on any given day but I am certain, it will be featured.   Perhaps this is not great marketing or good branding strategy.  Who’s to say? Reality is, I don’t want to be fenced in by one look. I want to try it all. More importantly, I want to share it all. So I guess what I want to say is this blog is diverse.  It may not take me to great heights but it is what I feel I own and I am completely comfortable with that. My passion is to inspire you to create. I want to encourage you to experience all different kinds of art forms.  If you aren’t into flowers or baby stuff, perhaps you will connect with an abstract piece that I feature. Or maybe you have considered upcycling but don’t know where to begin. I have that here too.  Often I feature garage sale adventures and the treasures I collect. Ah, one of my favorite things to do.   Well, I can pretty much say that will be showcased.  So today, and case in point,  I’m featuring this mixed-media piece. This is such a complete opposite to last week’s cute “bunny” card.  Already I have turned the corner.  Anyway, I was asked by Tim Holtz if I would  create a project using his distress inks for Ranger’s Designer’s Showcase at the annual Craft and Hobby trade show this past January.  Hmmm, out of my element?  Definitely. Stretching my comfort zone? Yep.  Guess you know what my answer was.   So if you have just started following me, I thought it was important to tell the story of how this blog came to be and where it’s going.  Hoping you will want to come back because the truth is, every posting is a grab bag or a crap shoot.  You will probably never be bored and that isn’t a bad thing.  But if you are looking for the same kind of projects week after week, like say, only cards, you will see lots of other things featured as well. I do them but I mix in home decor and sewing projects too.   So tell me, what are you looking for?  And my challenge to you is, what do you want to see?  I am excited to have you join me here.  Hoping you will return. Posting on Mondays is the one consistent thing I do.  I’ve called  it “Monday’s Motivation” and obviously,  anything goes!

I used lots of cool items here but one of my favorite things was this tag from a piece of clothing.  It was so appropriate for what I was making but it went further than that.  It was both a reflection of us as individuals and as a reflection of this blog.  So I will end with this (now) quote…   “The irregularities and variations in the color and texture of the fabric are characteristic of the fabric adding to its natural beauty, and is in no way to be considered as defective”.   Happy Monday!
