Back in California to celebrate an early Mother’s Day, I could not resist the temptation of junkin in my favorite stomping grounds on Saturday. Rarely disappointed, I always manage to find something I can’t live without. However, as luck would have it, this particular Saturday the rain came and I was fairly certain, I was going to have to cancel my adventure. My mantra is always “Where there is a will, there’s a way”, so I got up and went out anyway, bringing my 84 year old mom along. We hit several sales with no luck and then the little red wagon appeared near the side of the road.
The color alone was my stop sign. And, there was rust inside. And, it was game on! A few negotiations later and the wagon became a part of the family and joined us for the rest of the ride. With 2 companions now in my care, we navigated our way to a third day estate sale. After an hour and half delay, the estate sale company finally showed up offering us a whopping 80% off everything! Of course, that meant my mom and I had to divide and conquer as the ever present “Chatty Cathy” (aggressive junker) arrived on the scene to my chagrin. Ah, but the sweet smell of success was worth the wait and having to deal with Chatty! Take a peek at all our treasures! LOVE this Chinese checker board…mostly for the 1950’s-style artwork.
And I loved the worn flag, vintage ornaments, and the old Disney albums.
I was a happy girl. And Chatty Cathy made her debut with my mom as she witnessed her “tornado” technique and endless “chatter”, thus the name. We both chuckled. This is just stuff. Makes no difference in our lives. Oh hey, Bob’s Big Boy…bring back any memories?
The artwork in these books were so endearing :).
And pretty sure these Disney albums are worth something.
Bits and pieces, perfect for mixed media and jewelry making.
Less than $20.00 for an entire morning of entertainment was definitely worth it. Guess I will be back at it again next weekend. Glad I didn’t let the rain, rain on my parade ;).
XO,
Debi

Such a great haul. You must be a vintage treasure magnet.

Or rather one sick puppy. I do seem to get “stuff” nearly every time.
