Sending You a Box of Sunshine

6 Sep

Every now and then I like to randomly create a “Box of Sunshine” and send it to someone who has been on my mind a lot.  Though the box and the gifts are simplistic and inexpensive, I really put my time and energy into thinking of that person while I am purchasing and embellishing the pieces. Today I thought I would show you some of the items I like to put into one of the boxes as well as how I decorate them.  No box is ever the same because I love trying to find new things and make each one a bit personal.  Go as crazy as you like when collecting goodies, but remember it needs to fit into the box. :).  My particular box is from The Container Store.

I purchased the following items:
Yellow Tissue Paper
Yellow Shreddies
Juicy Fruit Gum
Minion Tic Tacs
Cheddar Fishes
Yellow Sunglasses
Lemon Jello
Lemon Drops
Lemon Lotion
Lemon Sandwich cookies
Yellow Shovel
Yellow Straws
Yellow Balloons
Cellophane
Ribbon
Pinwheel in Yellow, of course!
Sentiment Stamp
Ink
Buttons
Foam Adhesive Letters
Small, Clear Square Box for the Lemon Drops-From Clear Bags
Dies:

Make Mine Lemon Lime by Debi Adams for Spellbinders

Mind Your Banners Contour Die by Spellbinders

Cinch And Go Flowers Two by Becca Feeken for Spellbinders

Hemstitched Rectangles by Becca Feeken for Spellbinders

Machine:

Platinum 6 Machine by Spellbinders

Other suggestions… a yellow tank top, yellow slippers, or flip flops or change it all entirely and pick a different color combo altogether.  How fun would an M & M’s combo be??

Here is the banner that goes on either the outside or the inside of the box.  It was created using the Mind Your Banners and Make Mine Lemon Lime dies. I cheated with the letters, purchasing the sticky-backed foam letters from the craft store.  I adhered and tied it all together using lime green twine.

I love Becca Feeken’s Cinch And Go Flowers Two. They are easy assembly and added to the decor on my card, jello box and clear, square box. A stamped sentiment and flower button finished it off.

And this card, it’s made from my Lemon Lime dies, Becca’s Flowers and her Hemstitched Rectangle.  Does it scream “happy” or what? Hope the recipient gets the message that she’s sweet!

Well that’s it. Hope you will think of making one for somebody special today. I’m trying to make it my goal to do one every few weeks. Let’s spread that kindness and sunshine everywhere. I believe you always get more of it back.

XO,

Debi
