Time to Make Baby and Birthday Cards

23 Oct

Hi everyone! Hard to believe Monday has rolled around again. Those weekends just aren’t long enough! Anyway, as many of you know, I became a grandma this year and I’m going to get to be one again to another little bundle in March from my second daughter and her hubby! I can hardly wait. Seems like all my daughters’ friends are having babies as well so I decided I better step it up and get making some cards. Today I am featuring my stamps and dies from, “My Little Red Wagon” collection by Spellbinders. I have made a baby card and a child’s birthday card and I have a quick tutorial for each.

Birthday Button Card

Do you remember those birthday cards in the 60’s that actually had the birthday age “button” you could wear? That concept is exactly what I was thinking when I designed this specific stamp and die set. I love being able to put the child’s age onto the birthday card. (Wouldn’t the numbers make great cupcake toppers too?)

This is a super easy card to make. I used a 4 ¼” X 5 ½” card base. Attach two strips of patterned paper at the bottom. Die cut the bunny , star, number, circle and clouds from white cardstock. The bow was die-cut from patterned paper.

Apply ink to the bunny’s ears, stars and number using the foam applicator on the Tool ‘n One as indicated. Add other details with a black pen.

A tighter shot of the details.

Stamp sentiment onto top of card with black ink. Attach bunny, star, clouds, bow, circle and number to card base using foam dots.

So what do you say? Pretty cute? Would you make it?

Here’s the list of Spellbinder’s Products. If you click on any of them, it will take you to where you can purchase them as well. Although I get a portion of the proceeds from these sales, the cost is not passed onto you.

“Love You” Card

The fun part about this stamp set, “Love You to the Moon and Back” is the space located between the words “Love” and “to”. This is left blank so you can personalize it with “you”, “him” or “her”, which are included in the set.

Begin this card by embellishing the smaller cardstock (3 ¾” x 5”) using the Tool ‘n One with the Foam Applicator and light blue ink.

I found that adding color to the die-cuts really makes a difference. I used a little bit of yellow to shade the stars and the moon. Also, these dies were designed to help you add the details. Simply color in the face where indicated on the die with a black pen. You don’t have to be an artist to look like one! Stamp the sentiment with your own personalized word onto the cardstock then attach the embellished dies to the inked mat base using foam dots. Wrap twine around mat. Adhere mat to card base (4 ¼” x 5 ½”) using foam dots. Finally add Nuvo drops.

My little dude is 3 in December so “count the stars” will definitely be making an appearance. Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful cards.
