This post. Today. Ah, it makes my heart happy! As you may or may not know, my 2nd daughter, Chellie is pregnant with a baby girl and her sisters are throwing her a baby shower over Christmas break. Crazy I know but it is the only time they will all be together before baby Young is born. Again, I have been limited to “decorations only”. Ugg. Restraint! I love all of the party stuff. Lucky for me, I have a gifted graphic artist daughter, Kristen who was in charge of creating the invites. (Pic coming soon!) My youngest daughter, Alyssa is in charge of the games. She makes it fun! Then there’s my daughter Lauren. She and I are like two peas in a pod with party decor and trends (she was Visual Display Manager at Anthro). We’ve got a lot of ideas up our sleeves but for today I want to give you a taste of our theme. Obviously we are doing gold, rose gold, platinum and silver with a bit of pink mixed in. We were thinking champagne and New Years :). I had really wanted to get some of those gold-rimmed pink champagnes glasses I have seen out there but the cost was so prohibitive, I kind of forgot about them. (Well, not really. Lol. When I get an idea, it’s hard to let it go!) Lucky for me, while out doing my regular “goodwill hunting”, I ran across not two, or four, but twenty-something pink wine/champagne glasses! All had at least two matching pieces. One set is actually vintage and was made in France. I did not pay over $1.50 for any of the glasses. Most were a dollar, some were on sale for half price! I got almost all of them in the same week but at 3 or 4 different stores. I was such a happy party girl! Here’s just a few. The pair on the bottom left are the ones from France 🙂 but the ones on the right look very similar.
Our theme is “Twinkle, Twinkle”. Going into a new cake decorating store (dangerous for me), I found these darling (had to have) sprinkles. I called them my “color swatches” to validate the purchase. Well again I was surprised. Unbeknownst to me, I was at the store on Black Friday where everything was HALF price. Oh lucky stars, literally! 🙂
And speaking of stars…I was going to die-cut the stars for the cupcakes but when I saw these stars on pics at Target for a DOLLAR I said forget die cutting! Can you believe they were a dollar???
I got this idea in my head about giving out party favors that had “stardust” in little tubes. These tiny stars were in the cake decorating section of Hobby Lobby. They were not cheap but I used my 40% off coupon and used them sparingly inside the tubes.
I mixed pink sugar crystals, white granulated sugar, white cake decor balls, mini pearl- white jimmies and the little gold stars and put them in the tube. Adorbs??? Oh my gosh! Just too much fun!
I die-cut two stars from a die set by Spellbinders called “Superstars” and adhered them together. Attaching the stars to a t-pin made them easy to slide onto the bow. The tag finished the favor.
So far, this is where I am at but I have soooo much more in store. I hope you will rejoin me next Wednesday for more baby shower ideas!
In the meantime……..
