With all the types and styles of weddings I do, (I do mostly flowers) occasionally a unique opportunity presents itself to do something a bit different. This custom wedding album cover was exactly that and, a first-time request. The bride is pretty special because her mother is a dear friend of mine and the bride herself was a childhood friend of my daughter’s. I cannot wait to present this album to her. Sunday is her special day and we are praying for NO rain because she really wants to keep it outdoors. Whoever wrote that song “It Never Rains in California” must not be living here this year. It’s been a crazy, and COLD. Anyway, enough rambling. This hand-painted cover was super easy to create. Honest! I will be teaching a class in April at Ephemera Paducah where I will be giving you tips and techniques on how to hand-paint on jackets, bags, belts, boots, albums, eye glass covers, you name it and basically, it’s whatever you bring that’s leather or vinyl. If you can’t make it or you’re just not into painting but are interested in owning or gifting one of these albums, please pm me about the details. Custom work is my specialty. Oh hey, if you are in the Southern California area and are interested in me teaching this class here, simply shoot me a message and let’s see if we can’t get it on the calendar.
The flowers are actually extremely easy to paint. The lettering, though not hard, takes several applications of paint to get good coverage.
Looking at the album from far away, it may seem difficult, but it’s really just dipping in the right shade of paint and it’s all about swipping. You can do this. Or, I can do this. You get to choose!
Guess this is going to be wedding week because I had a wedding last weekend (flowers) and then two more are planned for this weekend and then there’s bridal shower cookies and I will be featuring them all shortly. Stay tuned!
XO,
Debi
