Today I am featuring a fold up card using the New Day Butterflies Stamps and New Day Butterflies Frame Cuts. I love both dimensionality with the card and on the card and this one is no different. And these Butterfly stamps and dies were just too much fun. They are whimsical, make me think of spring and worked perfectly for this type of card!
Here’s a view from the bottom of the card so you can get the idea. This card folds down into a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card for easy mailing!
To create this card, you will need to cut a sheet of white cardstock for the base to measure 5 1/4″ high x 8 1/4″ long. Starting from the left side of the paper, score the card base at 2 1/8″, 3 1/8″, 5 1/8″ an 6 1/8″. Fold the card so the the center piece (the middle 2″ section) has the folds on either side going down and the other two score lines folding out. See pics below.
Once you have the folds completed, lay the card out flat again and simply stamp some smaller butterflies on the “wings” of the card. Use a pale aqua blue marker to color around the outlines. I used Copic marker, BG 10.
Embellish the 2″ center using a sponge dauber and Sea Glass Ink. On a separate piece of white cardstock, ink and stamp up several butterflies using Intense Black Ink. Again, I used my Copic markers to color them in. It’s so nice to have coordinating dies to take the work out of hand-cutting the butterflies. Attach them to the center piece of the card and embellish the background with tiny black dots using a thin, black marker. Stamp the sentiment using Intense Black Ink, attach to patterned paper, adhere to card base and wahla! Fast, easy and impressive! Can you imagine all the cool stamps that could work with this card pattern?
