Hello friends and Happy Monday! So excited to share the NEW My Monthly Hero Kit for August 2019! Think dragons and castles, princesses and unicorns, scrolls and medieval characters and, you get the idea. Lots and lots of creative designs and sentiments that pair well together as well as with other items in the Hero Arts catalog. As always, this launch is a Blog Hop and a giveaway! Make sure to scroll to the bottom to see how to enter AND continue along with the blog hop! With August’s Main Kit you get all of this… It’s an unbelievable value for only $34.99 regularly $83.99. I love that there are coordinating dies to go with the stamps! Kits start shipping August 9th and the Main Kit is only available while supplies last. However, add-ons are replenished. All stamps, dies and supplies are listed at the bottom of this post. Although I love the Main Kit, I also love the kit add-ons so I am featuring many of those today. Being a mom to 4 girly-girl daughters, my take on these designs were all about pretty princesses and dreams come true but honestly, I love seeing the lions, dragons and darker colors played out with this collection as well. I guess that’s what’s so nice about a blog hop. You get to see a lot of variety. I always find it interesting to see how all the designers envision each collection. So here is my take.. For my first card, I used the Paper Layering Castle (cut it in half horizontally) and the As You Wish Stamps and Frame Cuts sets.
Since watercoloring is my favorite, I used the Daniel Smith Watercolor Dot Palette to embellish the background. If you don’t have this, you don’t know what you’re missing! Such a great product and so easy to take places. Slips right into your purse along with the Water Flow Brush. (Watercolor paper was Arches-140lb. cold pressed). I die-cut the Castle twice, once from watercolor paper with the outline and once from gold poster board with only the outline of the Castle. I cut them in half and assembled them, making sure that the gold poster board could be seen.
The coach was stamped and embossed with Versamark ink and gold embossing powder then colored with Copic Markers. Three threads of variegated embroidery floss were wrapped around the card. Finally the sentiment was stamped, embossed, matted and secured to the card base. That was it! Easy.
My second card also took no time. I created a rainbow background with Taffy, Pool Party, Creamsicle, Lemon Drop and Green Apple Reactive Inks using a foam applicator.
The Rose Bush Cover was cut from Dove White cardstock and attached to the card with foam dots. I die-cut two sets of the alphabet from Dove White cardstock and gold poster board, layered them together and adhered them to the card base using foam dots. A space was left between the words so that the stamped word would fit into the middle.
Since I love to stencil I thought this might be a fun project to try out watercoloring. I sprayed my stencil with Pixie Spray (see link at bottom) so that the stencil would stay in place. (LOVE that product because it adheres the stencil to the paper well but leaves no residue). I watercolored two stenciled pieces that were put together to form the entire card. I used a water flow brush and the Watercolor Dot Palette again. So happy I own that.
Here’s a different version of the Paper Layering Castle. A lot less cutesy and a bit more classy but again, all watercolored! (Do you see a theme here?)
Lastly I created this fun, carnival looking card. It immediately reminded me of Rainbow Bright. The hearts brought back memories of those Disneyland shopping bags that you used to get when you purchased something at Disneyland. (Now vintage, I am sure. Lol). Does anyone remember them? Anyway, back to the card. A few rainbow embellished hearts intertwined with a cute unicorn, some iridescent sequins, a sentiment and the card is done.
So what do you think? Another fabulous release? I don’t know how those Hero Arts designers keep it up. Thankful to have such wonderful creations to work with. If you are moving through the hop, your next creative is the amazing Ilina Crouse. And if you missed anyone, they are only a click away.

Gorgeous cards! I love how you cut off that castle die in the first card to make it fit a sideways card. Great idea.
