As promised, I am posting another Halloween project using Tim Holtz’ die designs by Sizzix. What a motley crew these skeletons are! I definitely saw a ton of possibilities with them AND I came up with another one this week that I will show in a few days. You will need to follow me on instagram here since it won’t be large enough for a post. Anyway, like I said, I had a lot of ideas for this skeleton and with a few minor changes like paper and color, I was able to make a Frankenstein and a pirate. Take a look and see if you can see the tiny things I did. (All die and product information is available at the end of this post. :).)
The original…
A piece of black cardstock was sandwiched between two skeleton heads. (Don’t forget to include the twine when gluing the two heads and cardstock together! Btw, I am all about making the back look nice too hence why I made two skeletons for each head.) I aged the skeleton using my favorite distress ink, Vintage Photo. To create the appearance of eye balls, I used a thin chalk marker and blended it slightly with my water-dipped finger.
From there I made a simple pirate…
Can you tell where his scarf came from? It is actually part of Santa’s red suit from Tim’s launch as well. And the spider web (new) is cut from glittered poly foam. The black bat and spider are thinlit dies. I think they finished him off, eh?
Which brings us to… Frankenstein.
I realized that with just a change of paper, a few stitches and a fussy cut hair piece, I could transform him into a new character. 🙂 I left a part of his mouth in place because I wanted him to look different from the skeleton. I embellished his head by using Mowed Lawn ink with a blending tool.
The rest of the banner was easy. Criss-crossed bones embellished with Vintage Photo ink & pen dots along with some bats and spiders, and my holiday decor was complete!
Well lucky me because I didn’t add just ONE new Halloween project to my tablescape this year. I got two…well wait a minute, I have THREE! Until next time….
XO,
Debi

Debi, what a great way to get extra use out this die! I love the pirate with his bandana, and Frankenstein is just as cool! I can only imagine the wonderful festive decor around your house. These would also make great banners for children’s themed parties, birthday or holiday! Thanks so much for sharing your creative ideas!
