Last month I featured Mr. Snowman, a Tim Holtz die by Sizzix, as a Christmas design but today I want to show you how easy he is to translate into a fun Valentine’s image. With a few changes in coloring, a bit of glitter and a love sentiment, he became a great little “snow cupid” of sorts. What I love about Mr. Snowman is that I have the ability to pick and choose which parts I want to add in or leave off. The base is always there. He kind of reminds me of “Colorforms” from my childhood. If you love layering, there are lots of pieces to use. If you want simple, you can go that way too!
For example, I chose to not put a hat on his head, a scarf on his neck or the extra snow pieces but I think he still looks adorable. I added ear muffs instead, (wire and pom pom ball) and added a string with letters, using Tim’s Alphanumeric Lower Case Alphabet.
The background is the Falling Hearts die that was then cut into an oval shape and attached to a box base. (I cut another coordinating, plain oval so that with the two ovals attached at the top, everything would stand upright.) I misted Mr. Snowman with spray adhesive and sprinkled him with clear glitter. He needed that frosty look! 🙂
Now I like to cover up the mechanics of the tab with a rectangular-piece of cardstock. I added fry-fru for fun. I made my own match box for the base but you could use a small jewelry box as well.
Super easy to make, and the time involved is all based on the number of layers you want to add to your snowman.
I think there are a lot of great ways to use these dies. Would love to see what you create! Thanks for dropping in.
XO,
Debi
