My Monthly Hero Kit, Blog Hop & Giveaway for March 2020

2 Mar

Well the NEW My Monthly Hero Kit and Add-ons for March 2020 have arrived and Hero Arts has brought some fantastic Asian-inspired art to the creative table.  Think cherry blossoms, koi fish, dragons and bamboo shoots and you have it!  There are so many wonderful images to play with. Of course I had such a great time designing with all of them that I can’t help but think you will too! And speaking of making, we have a blog hop happening with so many talented designers who will give you even more ideas on what to create. There is a *GIVEAWAY* so make sure to leave a comment on the hop to be entered to win a $50.00 Hero Arts gift certificate.  Enter by Sunday, March 8th, 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced the following week on the Hero Arts Blog. And just so you know, all of the products used in my cards are located at the end of post. Blog hop line up is there too!

A quick note- Pre-order your kit today. For this month, we will start shipping our kits and add-ons on March 16 due to some supplier delays. We know you are excited to get your kit and we will work to ship earlier if possible. Thank you for your wonderful patronage and patience.

So here’s what’s in the My Monthly Hero Kit for March. There are lots of goodies for an incredible value! There is a limited quantity of this kit and once it’s sold out, it’s gone. Add-ons however, are replenished.

Kit Contents: Valued at $70.00 but priced at $34.99

6″ x 8″ Clear Stamp Set

5 Coordinating Frame Cuts

5 Ink Cubes (Green Hills, Field Greens, Dusty Blue, Rose Madder, Cotton Candy)

6-5.5″ x 8.5″ Sheets of Cardstock (2 each of Peony, Kiwi and Mist)

Pink Puff Embossing Powder 0.5 oz

With such a great kit, it was easy to get started!

First up is a black and white rendition of the My Monthly Hero Kit. I loved doing it in colors but I thought this might be a different idea. When I saw this set, I immediately envisioned a tri-fold wall or screen and so I created my card with this concept in mind, splitting the frame into three segments. I used Granite and Intense Black Ink with the MISTI Stamping Platform onto Dove White card stock.

But if it’s color you like, you got it! You can make this anyway you want. I happened to think that the cherry blossoms blowing off the tree could be a flock of birds so I stamped them in black to create that idea. What do you think?

Obviously, I love trying to figure out unique and different ways to make my cards, preferring that no two look the same. So for this next card that features the March add-on “Tranquility” set, I thought about items that remind me of Asia. I thought of fans and mats and came up with the background below. Can you guess what it is made from? 🙂 The stamped bamboo shoots on Dove White card stock using Intense Black Ink were watercolored using black watercolors and a water brush.

This last card ended up being my favorite because I struggled the most with coming up with an idea that had not been used before. Ever been there? You are so not alone. The “Soy Awesome” add-on set had such wonderful designs that, rather than feeling frustrated over my inability to do something new, I decided to go to my happy place of coloring with Copic Markers. It wasn’t long before things started to flow. (That is my tip for the day btw. If you get stuck, either take a breather or go back to your roots. 🙂 .) So my background consisted of the Soy Awesome set randomly stamped and colored. I stamped and embossed a frame using the Parasol Pattern Bold Prints stamp onto black cardstock with VersaMark™ and white embossing powder. I also stamped a few more images with Intense Black Ink onto Dove White cardstock and fussy cut them. I then adhered the white Parasols to the card base before setting the frame in place. I rarely have a favorite set because I like so many but this Parasol stamp is my absolute fav, well at least so far. It’s only March. Lol! (I will showcase another card later this week with the Parasol image again.) The design, the layout, the clean lines, all speak to me. Tip of the hat to the Hero Arts designer on this one.

Well that is just a few of the amazing stamps and dies in this launch. I’m sure I will be showcasing a few more this week. If you are interested in subscribing to my blog, just click the link in the sidebar. As always, I am grateful you stopped by. Next up is Emily Midgett. She always brings inspiring cards to the table.

XO,

Debi

Your goal of creating unique cards came to fruition in inspiring proportions. My favorites are the B/W tryptich, and the greyscale bamboo shoot, which by the way, has me intrigued. What is the red mat/background made of? Is it mulberry paper or tissue paper? Whatever the case, I love anything mixed media–yours is a stunning card. Thank you for the inspiration, Debi.
