Hello friends and happy Hero Arts 2020 Summer Release Catalog Day! It’s always exciting when half way through the year, new products are launched, fresh ideas are presented and a lucky winner receives a $50.00 gift certificate to go shopping in the Hero Arts catalog! It makes waiting for Christmas seem not so far away. 🙂 . This edition brings new Heroscape stamps, Peek-A-Boo Door Infinity Dies in several shapes (whoo hoo!), and two new pigment ink collections in this latest issue. You can check them all out in the new catalog. Today’s post is also a blog hop and *GIVEAWAY* so be sure to scroll to the bottom to see who is next on the hop, how to enter to win the gift certificate and to click and view the new products.
First up is the new Vineyard Heroscape Stamp Set and Grapevine Window Fancy Die. I have combined the two together but they can be used and purchased separately as well.
The background is the Vineyard layering stamps. I used a variety of Hero Arts ink, both Mid-tone colors and Reactive Inks for the background and then came back in and added a bit of color to the flowers using Copic markers. I love this set because not only do you get the background, but you get a variety of complimentary stamps. This collection is available as stamps and frame cut, perfect for however you like to create.
I added dimension by using the Grapevine Window Fancy Die. I colored the leaves with a yellow-green marker and then used a blending tool and a mixture of Hero Arts Reactive Inks and Mid-Tone inks to pull it all together. This is probably one of my favorite applications because it is quick and looks smooth, almost like it was air brushed. *Tip* If you are trying to darken a certain area and can’t seem to find the right color, test out dark blue, brown or black on top of the existing color. It usually takes the color down a hue and really adds depth to the image. Ex., red + black=burgundy.
I also used a few Copic markers for the grapes on the Fancy Die. Since grapes are not all purple, try adding shades of deep pink, red, and blue then blend together with a lighter purple. It gives them a realistic look. I also added several shades of brown to the grapevine itself.
Before I layered the Vineyard and Grapevine pieces together, I cut another Grapevine piece from black cardstock and placed it slightly askew from the top embellished piece. This created a shadow. I adhered it to the Vineyard background piece using foam dots for the dimension.
Wanting this to look like the entry to a vineyard, I made a “woody” sign, stamped the sentiment and hung it from the vines. The hot air balloon was the finishing touch. Really enjoyed playing with this set.
Well, as some of you know by now, I couldn’t do just one card so I created another with an entirely different look. Thought it would be great to use the NEW Peek-A-Boo Doors and throw in the 4th of July since it is just around the corner. I used a medium-sized rectangle for the Door. I chose the cute Birthday Paw-ty stamp and die set to embellish the front. Can you guess what the “firework” is? (See product pic at the end of this post).
I usually try to add a surprise element to my card so I decided to make this one a shaker card. Opening the Door reveals a sentiment and a little sparkle of confetti.
So, that wraps up my preview of the catalog. Lots of other fabulous products and card making ideas. Next up is Emily Midgett. I’m sure she has been busy creating, making and designing some fabulous cards.
XO,
Debi
