Did I just write that it’s time for the Chapter 3 Halloween release of Tim Holtz’ collection by Sizzix? You would be absolutely right! Seems like the holidays always get here quicker than we expect so there is no better time than now to get inspired and begin making. Although all of my projects I created for Tim are Christmas-themed, used new steel rule dies AND are launching TOMORROW, I decided to quickly make a fall project for today’s launch. After all, fall is my favorite time of the year. I love the colors, the smells and all the familiarity it brings. And who could miss doing a project using Tim’s dies? Enough said. 🙂
My inspiration for this project comes from those vintage jewelry Christmas trees. Do you remember them? Ah, happy to say I own one and, hoarder that I am, I have over 8 jewelry boxes packed to the brim with vintage jewelry! Sick I know, but boy was I happy when I knew what I wanted to create with Tim’s new dies! Didn’t have to go to the store or order on do any mad hunting, well except through my own boxes. Lol. But now let’s really talk about the sparkle here. It’s the NEW Halloween dies. Without them, no amount of embellishment would make these work. For my project I used the dies Falling Stars, Haunted, Gate Keeper, Spider Web, Trick or Treater (Jack O’Lantern) and Arthur (branch), all located at the end of this post.
How fun is this? Pretty classic and all set onto a black velvet background and framed with Tim’s Framed Panel. I sprayed the frame black and added a touch of gold using a gold, oil-based marker.
The Haunted house was created from black glossy and black matte cardstock. To dress it up, I die-cut the house out again from gold metallic cardstock and adhered it behind the black glossy house, allowing a tiny bit of gold to show.
I did a similar design with the Spider Web…
And the gates…but I added gold glittered cardstock instead of gold metallic cardstock.
The windows of the house had a sheer panel of vellum behind them to keep the house mysterious…
A black widow hung from the tree branch…
And some bats flew in front of the moonlight.
I added a pumpkin and skeleton head to the scene.
And finally, I embellished the designs using my vintage jewelry. If I had time, I might have made this light up but unfortunately I don’t hoard tiny lights and I was out of time but hey, maybe I will rework this. 🙂
And there you have it. My quick project that took so little time after I decided what I was doing. That’s always the hardest part. The work goes quickly after the decision is made.
Hope you enjoyed today’s post. It may be Halloween today but tomorrow, Christmas is a comin’ and I’ll be back with some home decor projects. Will I see you then? Crossing my fingers.
