My Monthly Hero Kit for September 2020, Blog Hop & Giveaway

8 Sep

The NEW My Monthly Hero Kit by Hero Arts for September 2020 is HERE! Whoo hoo! This one is especially exciting to me because it’s all about fall, my favorite time of the year. All those familiar sights, scents and smells that have been missing for a whole year, return. And yes, I have already had my Pumpkin Spice Latte to get in the mood. I’m thrilled to bring you four cards, three from the Main kit and one from the add-ons. I am going to say right up front that this Main kit is fabulous and if you want one, do not wait. When the monthly kits are sold out, they are not replenished. Add-on sets are available and restocked however. To get more information, join the blog hop or get in on the giveaway, make sure to scroll to the bottom.

Ok, so onto the card and Main kit. Oh my gosh. Such a fun kit. And the other designers have rocked this set! If you missed my first card, you can find it here. Here’s my second version.

I’m not much of a spooky artist, not that I haven’t created quite a few over the years, but some how I navigated to this. At first glance, this card might look difficult but honestly, it was done with just ink, markers and of course, the stamps and die cuts.

I stamped the pumpkin field (dirt) with Pumpkin Pie Mid-Tone ink and Cup ‘O Joe onto a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ Dove White Top Folding card base. Lemon Drop and Creamsicle Reactive Inks were used to color in the actual pumpkins with Red-Royal Mid-tone ink, deepening the color. I stamped the crow and a “bush” (tree) from the Graveyard set (see at the bottom of this post) in Intense Black ink.

I left the marker area (1 3/4″) blank until I completed the top of the card.

The corn field was stamped in Pumpkin Pie, Cup ‘O Joe, and the top, with Red Royal ink. Intense Black ink was re-stamped onto the bottom portion of the cornstalks only. I placed repositionable tape on the cornstalk field where I planned to stamp the two trees (add-on set) by the church. I then stamped the trees and removed the tape. This prevented the images from showing onto the field.

The sky was embellished with Blue Hawaii, Splash and Pool Party Reactive inks and lightly misted.

The church (part of the Graveyard Set) was stamped onto a separate piece of Dove White cardstock, die-cut, cut in half and attached to the card.

And finally the Copic markers were applied. I used shades of warm yellows and golden browns, baby blues and aquas. (List is in links below). The tiny bit of land was colored in with a couple variations of brown. I then stamped the trees. One was upright and the other was upside down so that it created a shadow image.

A tiny strip of vellum was stamped with the sentiment using Intense Black ink and attached to the card.

That was it! Lots of layering, a little bit of time, but nothing really difficult!

So let’s look at what comes in the Main Kit:

Lots of goodness for sure! 5 inks, sentiment stamps, 6 variations of layering stamps, and some fall decor pieces. It’s an $80.00 value for only $34.99! Never want to miss getting in on a kit? Check out being a subscriber. All the information is located at the bottom of the post in the link.

Pre-order your kit today – we estimate kit shipping will begin Friday, September 11th and continue throughout the following week.

The church and tree designs are found on the Graveyard set shown here. I will be using this set in other ways this week.

For my second project I wanted to show a party favor instead of a card. I could not resist adding a bigger bat to the collection, but ah, there was none. But with a little imagination and a lot of will power, I created one!

I colored a party bag with Lemon Drop and Creamsicle inks. The “bat” was created from the pumpkin (die-only) and stamped and embossed with one of the pumpkin faces. Two tiny triangles were fussy-cut from Pitch Black cardstock to create the ears. A tied piece of rayon ribbon made for the bat’s wings. 🙂 It was all placed on a stamped and embellished circle, attached to a slightly larger circle of glitter paper and glued to a decorative straw. Sentiments were stamped in Intense Black ink and attached to glitter paper, adhered to the straw base and adhered to the bag. Serves as great table decor too!

This last card idea for creating with the Main Kit really needs no instructions. It simply shows another way to make this set entirely different.

My post would not be complete if I didn’t show at least one add-on set. I will be showcasing more this week so make sure to either subscribe to my blog (see side button) or follow me on instagram.

The florist in me LOVES this next set. All of it. It’s all dies, no stamps and it packs a punch! Here is a clean approach but I can see a LOT of possibilities. All images were cut from white cardstock, colored with Copic Markers and attached to a Pitch Black cardstock base, trimmed in gold poster board, and set onto a top-folding card base. The sentiment was stamped and embossed in gold. (It is from the Happy Autumn Forest Add-on set.)

Well, there you have my introduction to fall. I say bring. it. on. I am so ready! I imagine Emily Midgett is so ready too! Take a peek at her creations. If you missed someone on the hop, you can get caught up here…
