Welcome to October and the NEW My Monthly Hero Kit Launch by Hero Arts with a Blog Hop and Giveaway! I am so happy to be sharing with you another fantastic collection of designs from this month’s Main Kit and add-ons. Looks like Christmas is well under way and no better time to start creating than now. October’s kit features so many images and die cuts for making a variety of projects. Before I show what I created, let’s see what comes in this month’s kit. All products and their links are located at the end of this post, along with information for entering the giveaway and connecting with the blog hop team.

Included in the October Kit is the following:
6″ x 8″ Clear Stamp set
12 Coordinating Frame Cuts
1 Ornament Shape Die
2 Inner Ornament Dies
3 Embossing Powders (Red, Glacier Blue, White Sparkle), 1/2 oz. each
1 Watermark & Embossing Ink Cube
There are so many cards you can make from this set. It retails for $70.00 but is available for $34.99! It’s a deal for sure but remember that the Main Kit is only available while supplies last. Never want to miss a kit? Check out how to subscribe here .
For some reason I really liked pushing the envelope on this set so I made a unique tag. (Oh and btw, instructions for Friday’s sneak peek tag is located at the bottom of this post).

With just a few twists, turns and snips, the Main Kit can be made into a cuckoo clock!
You will need the following pieces to create this cutie:
My Monthly Hero Kit for October 2020
Two Coordinating Shades of Brown Cardstock
One Piece of Dove White Cardstock
White Embossing Powder
Embossing & Watermark Ink (In this kit)
MISTI Stamping Tool
Hero Arts Pool Party and Splash Reactive Inks
Other: Small Chain, Scissors, Heat Tool, Adhesive, Foam Dots, Copic Markers of Your Choice, Hot Glue Gun, Round Paper Punch, Thin Black Permanent Pen, Uni-ball White Pen
Here’s a picture of what the parts and pieces will look like. I provide measurements and instructions below.

- Die-cut the ornament, the triangle (bottom length 3″, height 2″), roof (5 3/4″ x 1″), shelf 2 3/4″ x 3/4″, the smallest Nesting Circle Infinity die from lighter brown cardstock.
- Die-cut one circle for the clock (using a smaller Infinity Circle die), the present and the small pendulum strip from darker brown cardstock.
- Die-cut a slightly larger circle from Dove White cardstock using a slightly larger circle from the Infinity Circle die.
- Using the MISTI, stamp deer onto Dove White cardstock using Cup ‘O Joe ink and stamp birds onto Dove White cardstock using Pool Party and Splash Reactive inks. Die-cut images.
- Stamp and emboss 2 straight leaves using white embossing powder onto dark brown cardstock. Hand cut image.
- Adhere leaves to two small chains, one that is 2 1/4″ long and the other that is 3 1/4″ long.
- Turn ornament upside down and stamp four leaves and two flowers onto ornament using embossing ink and white embossing powder. (See project photo for placement. Make sure to allow room for clock in center). Color in with Copic Markers.

- Attach triangle to backside of ornament. Cover up the tip of the ornament by creating a “faux” window with the upside down present.
- Score roof in half lengthwise and crease. Score the center of the strip to create the pitch of the roof and crease. Make a small “V” shaped snip on only one side of the center of the roof. (See pic) Bend roof at center and adhere roof to the back side of the triangle starting at the top of the “V” , insuring that roof is added on correctly.
- Attach pendulum ball to strip of brown cardstock and adhere strip to bottom of ornament.
- Hot glue two chains with leaves to bottom of ornament.
- To create clock, attach smaller brown circle to top of larger white circle using adhesive. Color in rim of clock with yellow marker. Add dots with black pen for details.
- Use a white Uni-ball pen to add numbers and hands to clock face.
- Use foam dots to attach birds to top of clock.
- Score shelf horizontally and adhere it close to bottom of clock.
- Adhere deer to shelf using a small amount of hot glue.
- Place a tiny paper-punch circle onto ornament hole if desired.
That’s it!

This kit is also great for gift giving. Decorating this box was easy by using just parts and pieces from the kit. I like to sit and stamp a bunch of these while watching tv then put them into a box or jar. When I’m ready to use, I just grab a few and I’m good to go. How festive is this?

Of course this set works well for cardmaking too! This particular card actually opens at the slit line. And how about those reindeer? You can stamp and cut them or you can just die-cut them as I did here.

And for a colorful card with a bit more work but oh so festive…

And finally, one add-on card because I can never resist! Totally feeling the Scandinavian vibe here. This is a quick card to make. The Holiday Graphic Bold Print background is stamped and embossed with white embossing powder. ( I added red and white stamped strips for variety.). I cut the tree from red cardstock using the outline-only of the Holiday Tree Fancy die and cut the white tree from the outline and detailed version. I assembled them together and attached it to the card base. A small, die-cut Infinity Heart was the base for the “peace & joy” sentiment from the Christmas Folks add-on set. Oh and the stars were from the 5 Point Stars Infinity Dies.

So there you have it! A tip of the iceberg for everything that’s new! I know that Emily Midgett has got some great card ideas up next. Keep reading on how to enter the Hero Arts giveaway and learn more about Hero Arts products.

I usually don’t comment with superlatives on creative projects, but I will make an exception this time. This is the BEST use of this kit I have seen. I’m a HE subscriber but was feeling ho-hum about this release. I almost skipped it…and then I saw your photo of this cuckoo clock. I fell in love with Switzerland when I visited there many years ago; this surely rang true to the style that I loved there so much and now I’m stoked to be getting this kit. Thanks for sharing your creativity and inspiring me.
I just realized after commenting that my profile pic is me on a ferry on Lake Lucerne in Switzerland!
