Hello again friends! Since I posted on practicing photography skills, I decided to take my own advice with some of my art. I may have tips to share with you but I still have a LOT to learn so it’s important to me to keep trying new things. No time as the present to experiment, play and get better. As an incentive for you to do your homework too, I decided to offer a GIVEAWAY from Seth Apter’s stash of fabulous products! Whoo hoo! Check them out below! 3 bottles of IZINK Dye Spray, 2 PaperArtsy Eclectic Stamps, 1 WOW! Mixed Media Embossing Brush and WOW! Etched Platinum Embossing Powder.
I am not requiring you to jump through hoops, tag a bunch of people and follow me. I am in complete agreement with Seth about having to do too much to just enter. I am going to ask you to do one thing for yourself however! Over the next few weeks and ending January 31st, I want you to start working on your photography skills. When you feel like you have succeeded in creating a photo with your art that you are happy with, send me that ONE photo (and only one, please). I will then enter you into the giveaway. My e-mail is listed at the end of this post. Yup, that’s it! I will not be judging the photographs. This is an exercise and not a contest. We are all on this journey together. (If you want my insight, please message me privately). I will select and announce one winner on February 1, 2021. (Unfortunately I cannot ship outside of the U.S. at this time.) I would love to feature each person’s art photo in a designated album on my Facebook page BUT I will only do it if you indicate you are ok with that in your e-mail. If not, no worries! I definitely don’t want to put anyone on the spot.
Anyway, onto today’s art project. Here is a small piece of work I created using Seth’s paints by PaperArtsy on a gel plate. I actually layered several similar pieces to give it a bit of dimension. I added some watercolors to make the layered parts more cohesive. (Photo: Can you see it all well?)
I should mention that I added some stamp images before adhering the substrates together. The back piece is actually Seth’s Coffee Ring die-cut. I backed it with a piece of watercolor paper that had been stenciled with Seth’s ATC Mixup stencil by StencilGirl®. Probably one of my favorite things to do is to stamp or create art on deli paper and then adhere it to my art as seen here. It gives me the freedom to move it around or loose it altogether, kind of like a big eraser. :).
More stamped images were placed on the top piece of my art and I added stitches. I quite often use that in my art. I find it helps change or balance the direction that my art is going. I like leaving the strings on too!
Well, it’s a short and hopefully, sweet post today. Just showing you what I’ve been making as well as how I photo’d it. Did you find all the points for shooting a nice photo? Looking forward to seeing what YOU can do. Don’t forget to do your exercises. My e-mail addy is below.
