My Monthly Hero Kit Countdown for May 2021

30 Apr

Oh hey friends, looks like we are already into MAY and it’s time for another NEW My Monthly Hero Kit for 2021! With summer quickly approaching, I was happy to see the new theme for this collection. It’s the perfect time to get a head start into June, July and August and beyond! So here’s my sneak peek into this fabulous ocean-themed set….

There are so many delightful sea creatures and plants included in this. I especially love the “punny” sentiments that come with it too! For my card, I did something slightly different. I used the 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ side folding, Dove White Card base but I trimmed the entire card down to 4″ x 5 1/4″ then trimmed the front of the card only to measure 2 1/2″ high and 1 3/4″ long. You will see how this works shortly. The picture below shows a little bit of the left side.

I stamped the inside part of the card with the large coral stamp and left it uncolored. I stamped and die-cut the sea creatures using Intense Black ink onto Dove White card stock and then embellished them using Copic Markers. Before attaching the creatures with foam dots, I created a pool of water using Pool Party Reactive Ink with a sponge applicator and lightly misted it with water. The sand was colored with Copic Markers. Stamping the sentiment in Intense Black ink followed.

Moving to the front of the card, I stamped the large coral piece onto a separate piece of cardstock using Intense Black ink. I die-cut it out AND I die-cut a plain piece of white cardstock with no stamped image. I colored in all the sea life with Copic Markers, making sure to fill in the in-between areas with a coordinating aqua color to match Pool Party. This piece was attached to the small base at the front of the card.

Because I like to have my cards look professional, I attached the blank die-cut piece to the front piece (you will need to flip the direction) so that any marker colorings that leaked through the top piece doesn’t show when the card is opened. 🙂

Lastly, I attached the card to a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Pitch Black cardstock. That’s it. Pretty fun, colorful and easy to achieve!

Well that’s my little sneak peek into May’s kit. I hope you’ll come back here on Monday where I will have several more kit card ideas as well as a few add-ons!

Oh, don’t forget to leave a comment on each blog post to be entered to win a kit before anyone else! Hoping you’re the winner!

Thanks for stopping in.
