Let’s hear it for OCTOBER! Time for a new My Monthly Hero Kit Release, add-ons and a giveaway by Hero Arts. I’ve been super busy getting ready for this one. Always love trying to share something new and different. This month’s theme is Victorian Christmas, though you might notice on the hop, so many different variations and styles to the designs and it’s all good! Something for everyone. There’s plenty of fabulous products to create some amazing holiday cards! It’s only limited by your imagination AND the fact that this kit is only available until it’s sold out. So here’s what I made. Went a little outside of the box, yet again. I’m afraid I’m a little A.D.D. and I LOVE to decorate…but clean up, not so much. Lol.
Truly there are a million different ways to work with these nostalgic designs. You just need to do you. So here I stamped and embossed the three images with gold embossing powder onto Dove White cardstock and then lightly brushed them with Taffy Reactive Ink, except the sentiment. I left it white.
I die-cut the coordinating images out, cutting an additional tree (no stamping) from gold cardstock. I attached the die-cut tree to the back of the pink tree so that it peeked out on the side and then placed everything into a gold-sprayed frog, attaching the sentiment last. You have the option of using the cloche or not.
To add a little bit of depth to the tree and rocking horse, I outlined portions of the designs with a light pink Copic Marker. They actually look nice just sitting on the napkin too so again, the dome and even frog itself are optional.

Well when I got done with this project I kind of threw it back on my art table and it landed on the dark raspberry paper from the kit. The pink paired so well with the paper that I decided to make a quick card using the Window Shop Cover Plate.
I cut the Window plate twice, once from Dove White cardstock and once from gold cardstock. I trimmed the gold piece to only fit around the white Window but I left the ornate section on. It was all then placed on top of the raspberry paper. I embellished the Window with a wired gold leaf wreath (from the wedding section of your local craft store), and then applied the designs I created from the first project. A stamped and embossed sentiment completed the card.
Because the raspberry background was fairly strong, I chose to add a tad more color to the ornaments using a raspberry-shade of a Copic Marker. This too, looks great on a dinner plate. Not all cards have to go in the mail though they are nice to receive!
This was actually a really quick card to make with very little coloring involved.
Now onto a few add-ons because I love them as much as the kit!
Here is our Hero Lifestyle Forms dressed in their new add-on clothing for a Victorian flair! Such cuties! I used the Victorian Greenhouse Fancy die (spliced together) cut from Dove White cardstock and gold cardstock to create the background. The couple was colored with Copic Markers and their attire was cut from cardstock and paper-pieced together. They sure make a cute couple. Their die-cut only clothing is sold separately.
I also want to showcase a Hanukkah card because I know it can be hard to find Jewish holiday designs. Happy to see that Hero Arts created this set. The background was stamped with Indigo Hybrid Ink onto light blue cardstock using the Nordic Holiday Bold Prints. I stamped the Hanukkah sentiment and menorah onto a piece of Dove White cardstock and embossed in gold or stamped in Indigo ink. The dreidel and goblet were stamped and embossed separately then hand-cut and adhered to the card base. I colored everything in with Copics.

Ooh-the pink palette gives me something to think about. It’s nice to see the “thinking outside of the box”.
All are simply gorgeous! Of course pink and gold, which I like to pair with ivory, is always my favorite color combination! Since I sew Victorian costumes as another hobby, I may end up going over budget for the paper dolls!

I am in love with this kit and can’t wait for it and add-ons. I’ve loved all I’ve seen so far but especially love yours in the dome. Just gorgeous and I thought it couldn’t get much better. Then you threw it on the raspberry card and I was wowed again! Can’t decide which I like better!

OMG Debi, I love how you always think out the box. I love the pink tree and how you made it stand up using the frog. The pink tree looks fabulous on the Raspberry Card stock. Love the Hanukkah card you created. Your Victorian couple are delightful. As a side note – I’m already starting to save toilet paper rolls to make treat holders like you made for the sneak peek.
