Reveal day for the My Monthly Hero Kit by Hero Arts for February 2022 is finally here! Super excited to reveal that this month’s theme is surrealism and imagery related to dreams. It’s a very different take from the usual monthly kits but I discovered that by getting your brain out of the way, you can get really creative and explore different ways to apply the designs. In other words, no overthinking allowed! For me, I found that if I worked the designs as more of a collage or even a bit of abstract, it went together quickly. It’s all pretty simple so one can add as little or as much to the background as one wants. Before I share the kit, I want to let you know that there is a GIVEAWAY for leaving a comment on each of the designer’s blogs on the hop. Information on that, as well as product purchasing, is located at the bottom of this post. You can also locate the links for the designer’s blogs on the hop because I know you will want to see what each one did with this collection. AMAZinG!
So here’s what the set looks like…
This set comes with the following:
• 6” x 8” Clear Stamp Set
• 15 Coordinating Frame Cuts
• 2 Sheets of Black Watercolor Paper (5.5″ x 8.5″)
• Watercolor Dot Dream Palette (18 Dots)
• Water Flow Brush
It’s a $75.00 value, available now for $34.99. Unlike the kit add-ons, once this set is sold out, it is gone. Never want to miss an opportunity to get the kit? Try a subscription. (Go here.)
So here are two cards I created using this dreamy set. The main images were stamped in Intense Black Ink onto Dove White cardstock, die-cut and attached to an embellished background using Pool Party, Key Lime, Lemon Drop and Creamsicle Reactive inks, along with a bit of Indigo Hybrid Ink. The designs were colored in with Copic Markers. Once attached to the embellished card base, I hand drew a tree using a fine, permanent black marker. The stars and sentiment were stamped with Unicorn Pigment Ink. The entire card was trimmed slightly and then attached to a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ Pitch Black card base.
This next card is super easy and fun! One of my favorite things to do is watercolor and Daniel Smith’s Watercolor Dot Palette is included in this month’s kit!
I used watercolor paper for my stamped images so that the watercolors would flow properly. The fish and umbrella were die-cut and adhered to the card base.
And I think you are going to love the add-ons just as much as I do. I chose just two cards to highlight today. I had no idea of the direction I was going with this first one but it ended up being a really a quick card to make! I used the same Watercolor Dot Palette that came in the kit but you could use the one that Hero sells in their catalog as well. I love it equally!
I watercolored the paper first and splattered it with some Gold Metallic Glimmer Ink. (See product link at bottom of post.) When dry, I attached the die-cut Star Wreaths, one cut from cardstock and the other from gold poster board. I embellished a few stars with a gold metallic pen and a tiny bit of gold leafing to others. The sentiment was stamped and embossed with gold powder onto vellum. That was it! Easy, peasy! Love the look of the bleeding colors. 🙂
My final card for today is this all die-cut, Dream Catcher Fancy Die. I began by lightly stamping the background with a sentiment in Pool Party Reactive Ink, not caring if the entire wording was readable or not. I created a stencil from the moon piece and brushed Caramel Hybrid and Root Beer Ink over it with a blending brush, moving the image around several places. I then attached the embellished moon onto the card base using foam dots. I lightly splattered the card with black and white acrylic paint. The feather and doo-dads (beads) were die-cut and colored with Copic markers, embellished with a white pen and attached to moon. The white embossed sentiment was then attached to the card using foam dots.
Well, I honestly can say I LOVED having to think outside of the box for this month’s release. It’s boring for me to stay in the same place creatively. Hope I left you with some nice ideas for you to make your own.
Next up on the hop is Emily Midgett. She is an amazing designer and I am certain you will see some fabulous ideas from her. Don’t forget to enter the giveaway and check out the product links below.

Hi, Debi –
All your cards are pretty and interesting but I LOVE the one w/ the fish. Dalí would be proud of you! That image of the fish holding an umbrella going through / out the door is the “étincelle” the Surrealists were aiming for!! BULLSEYE!
