Hi and happy mid-February! Can’t believe spring is right around the corner and the NEW Hero Arts Spring 2022 Catalog is here to get things started! Lots of fabulous designs for all styles of art. Whether you like to emboss, watercolor, use markers or ink, there’s something for everyone! Today I’m featuring a few of my pieces created for the catalog that incorporate many of these items but I am certain you can add your own twist on each of these that will look amazing and uniquely you. Every card has its own personal touch. First up is this beautiful Birds and Flowers cover plate set.
If I had to pick a favorite design from the catalog, I would have to say this one is it. I absolutely love the sweetness of the birds paired with the flowers and branches. I die-cut this image out of watercolor paper and watercolored it using Reactive Inks and a water flow brush. (I may have even brushed it with some Reactive inks when it was dry too!) It was then adhered to the top of a piece of glittered cardstock, also cut from the Birds and Flowers die. It all was attached to a top-folded card base that was embellished with Reactive Inks. A vellum stamped and embossed sentiment from the new Let’s Celebrate Stamp Set completed the card. Definitely looks like spring to me!
This next card is also watercolored but is much bolder in color with more of a mixed media feel and uses the new Water Lilies Fancy Dies set.
The background was created on watercolor paper using Hero Hues Liquid Watercolors. Oh so vibrant! Once dry, I flicked some white acrylic paint onto the background.
The lily pad, flowers and dragonfly were cut from watercolor paper. The dragonfly was watercolored with Reactive Inks but the flowers were dry-brushed with Reactive inks and shaded with markers while the lily pads were shaded with a Green Apple Reactive ink.
I picked this sentiment to go on the front, but with this floral design, anything is good!
Last is my Easter card using the new Color Layering Bunny and Color Layering Bunny Frame Cuts. That bunny is sooo cute!
I actually combined the Birds and Flowers Cover Plate with the Color Layering Bunny and Flowers to show the compatibility of the designs. To emphasize the bird, I colored him in. The bunny and flowers were stamped in Soft Granite, (the bunny had an additional layer of Cup ‘O Joe) and the rest of the images filled in with markers. The background was again, brushed Reactive Inks. I used Taffy and Purple Galaxy.
