Super excited to be sharing a few fun projects from the NEW Hero Arts Spring Catalog for 2021. Every time there is a new release I’m always so indecisive about what to create because every design is just soooo good! The Spring Catalog is no exception. Today I decided to showcase three projects that I made independently of the catalog and two that were actually in the catalog. As you noticed above, this is a Blog Hop so if you were hoping to see other projects from the new designs in the catalog, they are only a link away! (Scroll to end of post.) With this hop they are giving away three, $50.00 gift cards so check and see how to enter to win! Additionally, all the products I have used are listed at the bottom of the post for your shopping convenience.
I kinda laughed when I realized what stamps and dies I chose for my projects. I could have chosen anything in the whole entire catalog to create with but I guess the florist in me came out and this is what happened…
Everything came up flowers, so apropos. And these colors are some of my new favorite pairings. The die-cut I used for the word “happy” is the new Happy/Thanks Stamp and Cut XL, without the stamps. I die-cut two Circle Infinity dies from gold cardstock and heavier mixed media paper and adhered them together to form the circle then attached the word. Next I die-cut and Copic-colored the NEW Bouquet and Envelope Accessories Sets and adhered them to the bottom of the Circle. I attached skewers to either side of the hoop (hidden behind the flowers) so that I could insert the cake topper into the cake. That was it!
Of course, the cardmaker came out to play and used the same flowers plus the new Thank You Message Cover Plate to create a thank you card. (I actually could have made a birthday card instead because there is a Birthday Message Cover Plate but I made this card before I did the cake topper.) I started by cutting the Thank You Message Cover Plate from Dove White cardstock and then adhered it to a blush-colored card base using foam dots. I die-cut a lot of the flowers from the Envelope Accessories Fancy Dies and the Bouquet Accessories Fancy Dies first so I could try different color combos and just experiment.
I found it fun to play around with markers. Instead of coloring in the “Queen Anne’s Lace” the typical white and mint green, why not try coloring them in shades of yellow with dots of golden brown and make them yarrow instead?
I changed the same die-cut image into a hydrangea using variations of blues, purples, greens and a bit of white. I added green leaves and even a few beige and brown ones. All these pieces were mounted on the front of the die-cut Thank You Cover Plate.
I then had to try one in black, gray and gold…
I die-cut the Thank You Cover Plate from black and gold cardstock. I placed the gold cardstock under the black and moved it over slightly so that it would show outside of the black design. (You will need to trim any excess gold cardstock that shows up on the other side of the black design.) I then adhered it to the gray card base using foam dots because I love dimension. Don’t think you will ever find a card of mine without it somewhere.
To compliment the gold, I colored in my flowers with Copic Markers and then used an 18 kt. gold metallic paint marker around some of the details of the flowers and leaves. Made it feel all fancy and it brought the gold from the background into the foreground.
I turned the skinny leaves into blue bonnet blossoms-of sorts. Your imagination can make them into a lot of different leaves and flowers. Both of the flower sets are fabulous and I didn’t use everything that’s in each one!
My next card was of course, flowers. (For real?) But this time it was more like a flower shop. Oh yea, this has my name on it too. Lots of coloring but I found it relaxing. I added the two stamped and embossed sentiments from the Sending Love Mail set and I was done.
My last card up today is nautical and I thought I might make one flower-free but nope, had to put some on there too because they come with the set! Yay!
The background was created by blending Blue Hawaii Reactive Ink, Cornflower and Navy Mid-Tone ink on top of the Sea and Sky stencil. Two circles were cut from the Infinity Circle dies using Dove White Cardstock and stamped with the new Anchor stamp using Navy ink. I then used a smaller circle to cut the center out of one of the circles. Hand-cut red pieces adhered to the cut out circle made it a life preserver. I lined up the two stamped, Dove White circles and attached them together with foam dots. The rest of the designs were stamped and cut and then adhered to the card base. A hole punched at the top of the anchor was perfect for adding twine. I love the clean, nautical look and these designs are just that!
Whew! I think that’s it for me but I’m certain the possibilities are endless. If you are wanting to see more, check out Emily Midgett. She’s been busy too and always has some amazing cards to show.
Thanks for hopping with me today. Keep going to catch up on the hop or to see how you can order any of the items mentioned above.

I love all the flowers! It’s so you!! I especially love your cake topper and the flower shop projects. My family owned a nursery and flower shop in Garden Grove and I grew up delivering flowers and hanging out at the shop. The best was going into the walk-in refrigerator and smelling the aroma of all those flowers. Heavenly!! (Sadly, I never learned how to arrange flowers but appreciate those who do!)
