Hi friends! Today I am excited to be showcasing Tonic Studios, Pattern and Prints stamp and die cut collection designed my uber talented friend, Maria Willis. This set is part of the Tonic Studios monthly stamp launch, definitely worth checking out each month as there is so much value in each offering. There is a 6″ x 8″ stamp and die bundle and it coordinates with the Backgrounds & Borders bundle for increased versatility (word dies can be combined and stylistically the bundles work well together). Can I say what a treat to be creating with this month’s abstract designs? I have created two different cards but since this is a blog hop (see links at end of post) there are a ton of other inspiring creations from some amazing designers so if my cards aren’t your style, there’s lots of others to choose from.
Also, we have a $50.00 gift certificate giveaway from Tonic Studios. See how to enter at the bottom of my post. In addition, it’s Tonic Studios birthday week and as part of the celebration they have decided to add a free stamp set as a gift with the purchase of all Patterns & Prints bundles. This gift will be included with all Patterns & Prints purchases until they are sold out (giveaway does not end with birthday week).
Interested in seeing the collection as a whole? Check it out here for the US and here for the UK. FYI, Patterns and Prints stamps and dies are only sold as a collection and are available for 3 months and then retired. If you like it, you might not want to wait. Here’s a little bit of information about the Stamp Club Release:
- Not a club or subscription based program but a small monthly stamp release.
- Patterns & Prints stamps and dies will only be sold as a bundle.
- These products are exclusive to Tonic Studios (not sold elsewhere)
- Inspired by Maria Willis
- Tonic dies come precut/separated with no burs!
- Stamps & dies come in high quality plastic envelopes with a tab for labeling and binder holes on the side. Compatible with A5 ring binders (listed above).
Anyway, here is my first card.
Loving all the parts and pieces in both sets. So want to know how I got started with this collage-style art? I simply start playing. (Take your brain out of the equation!). I used mostly ink, a little bit of ephemera, copy paper, deli paper, as well as black and white ink.
It’s really making “collage fodder”, which is basically bits and pieces of this and that, random left over pieces of past projects. I keep my remnants from past projects in a tiny suitcase then when I am ready to create, I pull them out and I’m ready to go. I love how well the stamps and die cuts work together in this Patterns and Prints Set.
I next worked the card base itself. Don’t be afraid to add ink directly to the cardstock without a brush or tool, as seen in the pink and lime green. I then added random stamping.
And finally I started assembling the card. It really feels like putting a puzzle together, moving and manipulating all the parts until there is a balance and a story of sorts.
With any card, I always add a sentiment or greeting as seen in the die cut “hello” and “friend”. Lastly I add mark makings in black and white pens.
I let nothing go to waste so I created another card from some of the other pieces. Cards don’t have to be complicated or busy to be fun.
I colored my top card base (Arches watercolor paper) with pink ink then die-cut the word “You’re”. Collage fodder left over from the previous card created the background on the 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ card base. I attached the sentiment to the card base using foam dots, then die cut the word “amazing”, it’s shadow from green and black cardstock and then attached it to the top of he word, “You’re”. Done! This is a really quick card. Perfect for when you are in a hurry!
Well that’s it from me! Did you have a favorite? Do you make cute or mixed media-style cards? Would love to see your art.
XO,
