Countdown to the NEW My Monthly Hero Kit for December 2021

5 Dec

Hi friends! I can’t decide if November flew by or drug it’s feet because I was sooo busy but here we are already into early December. The first of the month is always exciting because it means it’s time for a sneak peek at the new My Monthly Hero Kit by Hero Arts. This month we are looking at some cool designs that are great year round and for anyone. Since today is day three of the Countdown, I decided to go off the grid a little bit and create something that was a bit different than perhaps the designer had in mind for the stamps and frame cuts.

I didn’t originally see this look when I saw the collection. Not sure what triggered getting here but somewhere along the way I imagined those vintage silhouette prints in black velvet on a pink background trimmed in gold with a convex glass over the top. Have you seen those before? I actually have a few of my own from my junkin’ days. Anyway, I got to work right away and created this card.

This is not a very difficult card to make and it works up rather quickly. Supplies include the NEW die cuts from the set, one of the sentiment stamps, Dove White or Antique Ivory cardstock, Pitch Black cardstock, pink cardstock, gold metallic cardstock or poster board, acetate panel and the Nesting Oval Infinity Dies. I actually stamped and embossed the gold piece using a Bold Print stamp from the Hero Arts Catalog to make it look like one of those old picture frames. (The one featured here is not a part of this month’s kit but there are PLENTY of designs in December’s collection.)

To create a dimensional window, I used foam dots. I also added an acetate panel to the front so that it looked like glass, but because I shot the cards from a unique angle, it is hard to see the glossy front. So fun to play with this set. You might want to check out Hero Arts blog today as well as the past two days and see what the other designers created. There is an endless amount of talent in this group and I am in constant awe of the uniqueness and versatility that each person brings to the creative table.

And I should mention that we are having a giveaway so make sure to leave a comment here and on the other designers blogs to be entered to win the December Kit before anyone else. Crossing my fingers it’s YOU.

Don’t forget to come back Monday where the entire collection plus add-ons are revealed!

Happy crafting friends!

What a great idea Debi. I really like the softness of the pink in the background & the bits of shadow caused by the die makes me think of a day softly coming to a close. The way you embossed the gold really does make it look like an old fashioned frame. I so impressed with this release.
