The New My Monthly Hero Kit Countdown for January 2022

8 Jan

Hi friends and welcome to a fresh start to a new year! Super excited to begin 2022 with a sneak peek into the NEW My Monthly Hero Kit by Hero Arts. If you think of flowers, Valentine’s and a bit of destination mixed together, you may be onto this month’s kit. Be sure to check back here on Monday, January 10th for the full reveal but for today, I am giving a glimpse of a pretty scene, something I think we are all longing for these days.

I created this card using a side-folded, Dove White card base. (The side was actually used at the top of the card.) I cut out the center, including the fold line using an Infinity Square die, which created a big open space. I attached a small Infinity Circle die-cut sun, colored with Lemon Drop Reactive ink to the back side of the card then added a piece of vellum paper embellished with Pool Party and Lemon Drop Reactive ink behind that, large enough to cover the back of the card. This allowed light to filter through.

I applied Pool Party, Taffy and Key Lime Reactive inks to create the background on the front of the card and stamped the butterflies and grass next.

It was really fun stamping and layering the tree branches with different colors of greens and browns onto Dove White cardstock. I created two branches plus some additional leaf clusters and die-cut them out. One branch was adhered to the front of the card and the other was used to add additional depth and placed on the inside of the card, on top of the vellum paper. (Notice how the branch actually comes out of the top just a little bit.) The swing was stamped in Cup ‘O Joe and Root Beer Reactive ink, die-cut and placed behind the front branch. Little tuffs of the leaf clusters were added and the sentiment was stamped and attached to the card. I love how the card looks dimensional when it stands up.

Well that’s my sneak peek for you. Hope it “made you smile”. As always, we have a giveaway attached to the Countdown so don’t forget to leave a comment on all the Hero Arts January 2022 “Countdown to Creativity” blog posts (see them here) to be entered to win a kit before anyone else! Winner is announced on Monday, January 10th.

What a clever use of your materials! I am so pleased that you chose to make the card with regular green leaves. It really shows the diversity of this stamp.

This is so pretty! Your ink blended background is lovely and the cut out space makes it look like the swing can really move. I love this card.

I love your card! I was especially drawn to all the dimension with your branch and swing and to the swath of pink across the front. Made me think of cherry blossoms floating by. But the mind blowing part was the use of vellum and inking it up to be part of the background–so stunning! Thank you for sharing your incredible creativity!

    Dear Debi
Love the card and My friend has a swing and a mango tree giving shade to the tree. When I go there i really like to sit on the swing and read a book or think of something. Your card reminded the scene.tc.
