Monday’s Motivation-Flower Headband

29 Feb

Good morning!  Hope you all had a great weekend and got rested for the week ahead. I have a fun little project for all skill levels today using my new Quite Contrary dies by Spellbinders.  I am continuing to showcase my Daisy die because, like all my dies, it is so versatile. (I used my Hydrangea die for the little gray flowers as well).  This was really created with the hipster crowd in mind but anyone can make it and wear it.  I was told that this headband would be totally “in” for Stagecoach, the country music extravaganza.  So here you go.

All the pieces were cut from wool felt purchased at Joann’s.  The gray felt was actually one of the sheets of  synthetic felt while the wool felt is on bolts.  Although I used imitation leather for the headband part, you could use a stretchy headband of your choice or even put it on a clip.  I cut three daisies to make each flower.  I made a coiled piece of felt for the flower center, preferring that over a button but the choice is yours.

I found that by putting a small piece of felt on the back of the headband, it stabilized the flowers.  If used on a stretchy headband, it kept the flowers from moving or separating when placed on the head.

And today, I actually have a model for the hairpiece.  This is my oldest favorite daughter :), Kristen.  We are both employed at Spellbinders, although many people don’t usually know it. I try not to invade her space unless we are working on something together.  We have worked here and our previous place of employment for almost 8 years!  Lucky, blessed me!  Doesn’t she look cute :)!

I have a great Easter project for Wednesday!  You won’t want to miss it because you will need to purchase one of the pieces at Target….

NOW :).  Hope to see you then!

XO,

Debi
