Oh my gosh! Did I have the best time creating for this StencilGirl and Tim Holtz/Ranger Products Three Day Blog Hop! I feel like the luckiest person ever! Can’t wait to show you how I did what I did but before I even get started, let me tell you what’s happening. In addition to the hop, StencilGirl is having a giveaway! To enter, see the bottom of this post. You’ll definitely want to be a part of it so make sure to check it out. Today is only day one of the hop. If you just joined me now, the list of the rest of the creatives is at the bottom of this post.
Again, as usual, ( I know I say this every time), I had absolutely NO clue what I was going to do for this project using only Adirondak Alcohol Inks by Tim Holtz and stencils together but honestly, when you are given such awesome products, how can you do anything wrong, right? Lol. I had a blast with these inks, especially the bright colors. And the stencils, they just pulled my project altogether. My cell phone cover was soooo easy and very quick. Think about the great Christmas gifts they would make! So I bet you want to know how I did this now, right? Ahhh, come along my friends. Grab the supplies listed after this pic and let’s get started!
Tim Holtz Adirondak Alcohol Inks by Ranger-I used Raspberry, Citrus, Patina (my FAV), Stream, Sail Boat Blue, Gold Mixative and Alcohol Blending Solution
Stencils: Text and Texture Explore Stencil by Seth Apter for StencilGirl
Layered Salad Stencil by Terri Stegmiller for StencilGirl
Repetition Stencil by Rae Missigman for StencilGirl
Yupo Paper
Black Permanent Marker-Thin
White Signo Marker
Scissors
Exacto Knife
Clear Cell Phone Case
Wanted to post a picture of the alcohol blending ink, gold fixative and distress inks.
And of course, the project wouldn’t be complete without these stencils.
To get started, I used a permanent black ink pen and traced out my Layered Salad Stencil onto the Yupo paper. You can do this after you ink your paper too but I found it to be smoother to draw on a blank piece of paper than on top of the ink afterwards. It also indicates where specific shapes are so that you have the opportunity to color them a particular color.
This to me is the funnest part. I began to drop colors of the alcohol ink on the yupo paper. The inks do not bleed through and the colors remain vibrant! Look how cool the Patina blends with the Raspberry! Color happy!
Here I added a bit of the Sailboat Blue and Citrus and the blending continued.
And then more fun with Alcohol Blending Solution! Just drop it wherever you want the color to dissipate. You can leave it as is or add some more alcohol inks. The best part is you get to decide.
Once everything is dry, use Rae’s Missigman’s stencil Repetition Marks on the page using the blending tool and alcohol inks. I added the Sail Boat Blue or Stream for my marks.
Grab the gold fixative ink and apply it to Seth Apter’s sentiment from his Text and Texture Explore stencil on the back of the cell phone cover. It dries permanent. If you want, and I did, add a bit of alcohol ink to the inside edges of the phone cover. It makes it appear as if the complete phone is encased in art, and not just the one side.
If you have an old cell phone cover, trace around it, including the camera lens area and cut it out.
Lastly, add any markings you want with the permanent black pen and white Signo pen.
