Hero Arts November 2018 My Monthly Kit Blog Hop and Giveaway!

5 Nov

Hi friends! Welcome back to another fabulous My Monthly Kit reveal from Hero Arts! I am happy to have you here. November’s  holiday stamp and die collection has a wide variety of designs, as well as possibilities!  Since many of you have already seen some sneak peeks of the Advent Christmas set as a card, I thought I would create two Advent home decor pieces instead. Have I mentioned how much I love decorating? Ah, this was a perfect fit for me!

Using leftover envelopes and bags, I added a few randomly stamped boxes to create my Advent of 24. (I am only featuring 6 here but you get the idea.) To embellish the envelopes, I stamped the images on pre-punched and matted circles and adhered them to the front of the packaging with foam dots.  I then attached red and white twine to each bag and envelope and hung and glued them onto random twigs that I had decorated with dried greens and paper flowers.

I loved the add-on Ornament 3-D die set too so I included it with my Advent. Something about that striped paper really adds to the holiday look.

Well this collection was so much fun I couldn’t stop there so I came up with a daily desk calendar. I repurposed a Scrabble game I purchased at a garage sale sometime ago and pulled out the letters I needed to form the word “days”. I used the wooden, blank back sides to stamp out the designs using Hero Arts inks.  (See supply list at bottom). Tip: If the wood is a bit polished, sand it lightly with sandpaper. The images will adhere much better to the wood. I used markers to add touches of color where needed.

I also stained my holder because I wanted my tiles to pop but that’s optional.

And that was pretty much it! This last calendar was so easy the kids might even enjoy getting in on the fun! Let the countdown begin!

Thanks for hanging out with me.

XO,

Debi

Great advent calendar. Like the idea of using different shapes and decorations for each day and hanging them from some branches is perfect. My favorite project, though, is the countdown to Christmas calendar. Such a clever idea and these would make great gifts. Thanks for the fantastic inspiration!

i don’t know about a holder but you can get blank wooden tiles online where discount goods are sold such as amazon ebay or ali express for pennies. a bag full only costs a couple bucks if you don’t buy them at the craft store but rather a discount store. so if one had an old scrabble set you could use the holders and letters then stamp cuteness for every holiday on the blank ones you bought and use the letter tiles from the game to spell out coordinating sayings or count downs like this desk calendar that debi made that is soooo cute!
