My Monthly Hero Kit for February 2019 and a Blog Hop

4 Feb

Hi Friends,

Welcome back to another My Monthly Hero Kit launch for February 2019 by Hero Arts.  Happy to be showcasing a Roaring Twenties/Art Deco theme this time around. You will see the Main Kit featured below (adorbs!) as well as some kit Add-ons.  We also have a  **Blog Hop** giveaway so make sure to scroll to the bottom of this post! Today I want to feature the same basic large die from the Main Kit but shown two different ways. One card is classic & elegant and the other is modern and trendy.

This first card is what I call a classic card.  It highlights the traditional Art Deco style and era in rich colors of gold, black and white. If you look closely, you will notice I die cut two of the background, one from gold poster board and the other from black cardstock using the Main Kit die and layered them so that the gold peeks out. They were both adhered to glittered gold cardstock and attached to a card base.

The center of the card used the Deco-celebrations stamp design. It was hand-cut and placed in the center of the die design.  I stamped a white cardstock circle (Circle Infinity Die) with the “Mr. and Mrs.” sentiment (from an Add-on set) using Intense Black Ink.

This second card is a bit more modern. I created an ombre effect on the white cardstock using Sea Glass Ink and a sponge dauber .  I ran the ombre sheet through the die-cut machine using the Main Kit’s large die but only to emboss it. You can do this by placing the rubber mat on top of the main platform, then your ombre paper, your die (blade side down), then an embossing plate and run it through your die machine. (The layering or shimming can be different between some machines). Because the rubber mat acts as a buffer, the paper will not cut,  but rather emboss. :).   I then die-cut the die-design itself from gold poster board and adhered it on top of the embossed cardstock.

Marble paper formed the center label.  It was die-cut from the same large die in the  My Monthly Hero Kit .

I stamp and embossed the Deco-rations sentiment using Versamark and gold embossing powder with a heat tool then I mounted it on a slightly large piece of glittered cardstock.  Foam dots were used to attach the sentiment to the base but I left enough room to slip a gold-glittered feather behind the sentiment.

All of this was attached to a teal card base.  Such a different card from the first one.  Did you have a favorite?  Would love to hear your choice.

Next up on the hop is the wonderful Jennifer McGuire so don’t forget to keep going.  I know you will be so inspired!  If you missed anyone along the way, the list is right below, as well as the new dies for March.

XO,

Debi
