Hero Arts 2020 Catalog Release Blog Hop

14 Feb

Happy Friday, Happy Valentine’s Day and happy Hero Arts NEW 2020 Catalog Blog Hop Day! Whew, that is a mouthful! Hi everyone! Obviously, I am Debi Adams and I glad you popped on over. Super excited to share a few cards I designed for the new catalog. Before I get started, I want to let you know there are THREE giveaways with this hop, so make sure to check out the details at the bottom of my post. All products used in my cards are listed at the end as well. And finally, I really want to give credit where credit is due. As much as the hoopla is about the end result (cards and projects), if we didn’t have great artists/designers on the Hero Arts staff, our job as creatives would be difficult. We are so very fortunate to have such talented individuals, so I want to give a big shout out to the creative minds behind the designs. Not sure where they get all that inspiration but sure am happy they share it with us! Now, onto the visuals.

I have three cards to share today. First up is this cheery card of encouragement. Loving this sentiment because it can be used for just about any occasion. To create the background, I applied a variety of Hero Arts inks to the Abstract Fields Bold Prints stamp. I like using the MISTI stamping tool because I can re-ink the stamp multiple times if necessary. (I think I stamped this twice.) I attached the trimmed piece (now 3 3/4″ x 5″) to a top folded, 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card base.

I applied the ink in the same way to the Affirmation Messages sentiment set onto white cardstock and then matted it on two different colors of cardstock using the NEW Square Infinity Dies. I thought the card still needed a little something so I added two more designs from the Messages set. I cut them out with the Circle Infinity Dies and attached them to the card base with foam dots. And just like that the card was complete.

So you want a little chuckle? I rarely read the names of the stamps unless I can’t figure out what they are. I kind of like to see where they take me, as is. Apparently, the Abstract background is a “field”. :). Ut oh. Guess that is where the artist gets to choose, right?

I was excited to create with this darling watering can die with tulips. I mean, how spring is this? I die-cut the lattice-type background with the existing Hero Arts Bold Graphic Confetti die. The watering pail was cut from silver cardstock or posterboard then brushed with white acrylic paint. When dry, I applied a bit of brown and green ink to it. The tulips were colored with Copic Markers.

All the little details…

My next card is a beautiful garden view. Thought of a lot of ways to make this work but somehow this is what came together. I never know where I’m headed. Part of the creative process I suppose and I never stop until I am happy with the results.

Before I mounted everything onto the card, I colored in the top-folded card base with several Reactive Inks. I wanted a soft, warm glow. Obviously I backed the Window die-cut image (cut from Wood Grain cardstock) with a soft gray paper to create a shadow. I attached the Window on the Garden piece onto the card base using foam dots. I like dimension a lot and you will rarely find me not using it. Everything was colored in using Copic markers.

The finishing touches were adding a “shelf” or “ledge” to the window and attaching a sentiment. I would like to make a stash of these cards so I have them when I need them. You too? Like, I will need to buy some time to do that but I am working on it. 🙂 Not sure how I piddle all my time away.

Well, I’m glad you made your way here today. If you are interested in seeing more project ideas, make sure to subscribe to my blog. It’s on the right side of this post. And speaking of more ideas, check out Michelle Short’s post. She has been creating too!

XO,

Debi

I’m making more and more cards that are mainly diecuts, so love seeing the cards you made. Great detail on the window garden, especially doubling up the layers.
