Well this month looks like it’s all “booked” up with the new My Monthly Hero Kit and add-ons for March 2021 by Hero Arts. And by all “booked” up, I mean “read-y” for a creative adventure! There’s lots of great stamp and die designs for the book reader, book lover, reading enthusiast, librarian and student. Every month that a new collection is released, there’s a blog hop with a plethora of ideas by amazing creatives and a giveaway to add a bit more fun to the adventure. So let’s see what all the excitement is about this month by looking at the Kit….
Inside this kit you will receive the following items:
6″ x 8″ Clear Stamp Set, 7 Coordinating Frame Cuts, Reactive Palette Ink Pad, Water Flow Brush, 6 Bookmarks-Pure White Cardstock, and Rainbow Hemp Cord, 6 meters.
March’s Kit retails for $73.00 and is now available for a limited time at $34.99. Once this Main Kit is sold out, it will not be replenished so the time to consider purchasing it is now. Never want to miss a kit? Think about subscribing here.
So here’s the card I made with this set. Lots of ways to use these stamps and dies. I know the other designers on the hop will leave you with a variety of unique and diverse ideas. If you missed my bookmark Countdown card using more of these images, go here.
To create this card I layered the slimline card base (8 1/2″ x 3 1/2″) with light green and blue cardstock. I used just a portion of the tree (die-cut only) along the edge of dark green cardstock to create the “bushes”. I stamped and die-cut two trees using Intense Black Ink onto Dove White cardstock, colored them with Copic Markers and trimmed them down at the top to fit inside the 3 1/2″ area. One of the leftover tree tops was turned upside down and used to fill in the area between the two trees. (Catch the wrong way mushroom. Lol.)
I stamped, colored and die-cut the girl and attached her to a handmade hammock. String was adhered to the hammock, foam dots were placed underneath the hammock and then either ends of the string were attached to the trees using hot glue. This gave it a dimensional look.
The sentiment was stamped and embossed on to Pitch Black cardstock using white embossing powder and then attached to card using foam dots. Lastly, I created a frame around the entire card using Dove White Cardstock and Hero Arts new Slimline/Bookmark Infinity die set. Pretty easy! All of the products used in my projects are available at the end of this post.
I always have to showcase the add-ons to the Main kits because they are just as special. I am featuring two cards today but they incorporate a ton of the latest designs.
How can I not make something from this adorable Typewrite die-cut? Gah! I also used the Stacked Books Fancy Die, Novel Prose Bold Print sentiment and one of the sayings from the “Literally the Best” sentiment set. So many parts and pieces from this collection that work so well together.
And this Book Stacks Bold Prints card is such a quick make. Stamped and colored, I added a sentiment from the Literary Quotes set and two embellishments (tea cup and glasses from the Book Stacks stamp) to finish the card. Love the clean lines of all the artwork.
So those are my makes for today but there’s certainly more to come in the days ahead. (Consider subscribing to my blog so that you won’t miss any of my posts. Just click the subscribe button on the side bar of my blog.) Next up is Emily Midgett‘s post. She’s certain to have some fabulous card ideas and techniques. I hope you will take the time to see her take on this month’s designs. And don’t forget to enter the giveaway. The information is listed below.

Cute creative hammock slimline card. Typewriter brings back memories of the Smith Corona I still have and used in college and still use on occasion.

Debi- i always enjoy seeing what you create, I have to say, w/ these cards, you’ve really wowed me with things that are beyond clever, from big items to small touches! Go you for thinking to work a hammock in (along w/ the filler upside down tree), some glossy accents to pop the 2nd card’s hearts for just the right amt of “extra,” and a surprise bit of dimension with the popped up teacup snuck in among the books. I’m so glad you shared your talents on the hop. Thank you!
Sue D says

LOVE THAT HAMMOCK!!! My husband gave me one for my birthday a few years back…I’m not a huge outside person–me and bugs don’t get along–and I never hear the end of it from him! LOL! But if I could bug-proof the outdoors, I would find myself right on that hammock or a lawn chair in our backyard! Love your cards…thanks for sharing them with us.
