Today I am sharing three cards I designed for the catalog, all are very different but none are difficult to create.
First up is this mixed media twist on the new Barrel Wave HeroScape. I’m going to be very transparent here. I had no clue what I was going to do. I felt that everything I thought to do had been done before so I finally kind of gave up, you know, as I moved my mind out of the way, and let go. This card was the result and it was so fun!
I inked up the waves in several different colors of Reactive Inks (list linked below) and stamped them onto a piece of watercolor cardstock. When done, I lightly misted it with water and let it do its thing. That was it. I love how this made a watercolor swirl almost like a whirlpool. It’s different than a wave and I think it’s great to find multiple ways to use a stamp set. I trimmed it down to 4″ x 51/4″ so that it sat inside of a top-folded Dove White card base. The sentiment was stamped onto a strip of Dove White cardstock and adhered over the top of a rectangular die-cut, cut from trimmings of the leftover design image. Here’s what the set looks like…
My second card is a glitzy version of Paris. If you have never been there, Paris and the Eiffel Tower are like magic at night. This was what stood out on my trip there. I used the NEW Looking Glass Paris, 3 piece die-cut set. It’s a great set for adding dimension and building out a background. I layered my three pieces together to form this view of the Eiffel Tower. The Dove White cardstock in the background was lightly sponged with Soft Granite Ink and misted with Gold Glitter Metallic Ink. I added a few tiny star sequins. The black cardstock in the forefront was stamped with Script Bold Prints using the Gold Glitter Metallic Ink and then misted lightly with it as well. A stamped an embossed sentiment and a few gold stars finished off this celebratory card. Makes me want to go back!
Here’s what the three piece set looks like…
And my third card for today is the NEW festive Floral Motif Stencil with Happy Birthday Cursive sentiment wooden stamp (new too!) Let me say, you cannot go wrong with a good stencil! I inked the background with Reactive Inks, Lemon Drop, Creamsicle and Fruit Punch in an ombre fashion (no stencil), then laid the stencil on top and using a blending brush, added ink in the same ombre fashion, but going darker in application. It was lightly splattered with white ink, a colored snippet from the Flower Garden Fancy Die added to the bottom of the matted and stamped sentiment and attached to the card base.
